Demand increased +20% for Spanish Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector professionals to work abroad during the first half of 2013, compared with the same period last year, according to analysis by online job board, Ticjob.es.

Most of the offers are coming from the European Union such as Ireland, Belgium, Germany and Andorra. Spanish professionals are also increasingly sought after to work in Latin America, predominately in Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and also Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

Maximilien de Coster, CEO of Ticjob.es, said: "European companies are aware that Spain is, at present, an ideal place to look for professionals, and highly skilled technical workers abound for positions that require a high level of expertise and salaries are more competitive in Spain than in other European countries.”

"This may be a good opportunity for those mobile professionals interested in receiving more recognition for their skills," he added.

There are a variety of profiles sought after, although the most requested are SAP and Business Intelligence consultants and developers in banking technologies.

Of the candidates who are currently registered on Ticjob, a high percentage (75%) choose to stay in Spain to work. Of those looking to work abroad, 25% are willing to go outside of Spain, regardless of the destination. The prime destination for 80% of candidates willing to work abroad is the United Kingdom, followed by Germany, Latin America, and France.

According to the European Commission, each year the digital sector generates more than 100,000 new jobs in Europe, with insufficient numbers of skilled workers or new graduates able to fill them.  By 2015, it is estimated that there will be up to 900,000 unfillable vacancies throughout Europe.
