Spain – Nearly 40% of indefinite contracts were converted from temporary contract in H1: Randstad

For the first six months of 2019, 37.4% of indefinite contracts in Spain were converted from a temporary contract, according to an analysis from Randstad Spain.

The 37.4% rate reflects that more than a third of the indefinite contracts signed in Spain come from the conversion of a fixed-term contract.

Overall, nearly 400,000 (397,702) temporary contracts were converted to indefinite during the first half of 2019.

Among the sectors, the industrial had the highest percentage (50.4%) of indefinite contract conversions from temporary contracts. However, the services sector had the most temporary contracts converted to indefinite with 294,286 during H1 2019.

Among the regions, the Andalucía region had the highest percentage of converted contracts during the H1 period with 48.4% of indefinite contracts converted from temporary contracts.
