Recruiting qualified workers remains a challenge for the Polish industrial sector

08 August 2023

The biggest challenge for employers in the industrial sector in Poland is sourcing qualified employees, according to a salary guide by staffing firms Grafton Recruitment and GI Group for the first quarter of 2023. The report contains detailed salary information for over 170 positions in various industry verticals.

53% of survey respondents in the industrial sector indicate that the biggest challenge is attracting qualified employees. The report also noted a continuing negative trend in the pipeline as the number of students attending technical universities dropped by 5.5% yearly. The rural Świętokrzyskie Province in south-central Poland saw the most significant decline registering an 11.3% decrease year on year.

The report emphasizes the importance of the manufacturing industry, representing the largest proportion of Polish GDP, with impacts being felt in other sectors.

Despite the weakening economic situation, a decrease in customer orders, and high production costs, the survey results show that the mood was moderately stable for the second quarter of 2023. 28% of employers in the industry anticipated an increase in employment, and more than half did not plan to reduce their staff.
