Randstad favours long careers and developing and promoting management from within according to the statement yesterday from the Chairman of Randstad’s Supervisory Board, Fritz Frӧhlich, following the announcement that CEO Ben Noteboom would step down from his position in February 2014.

Therefore it was of little surprise that his successor has been chosen from within the existing executive team. Jacques van den Broek joined Randstad as a branch manager in 1988 and has held various positions throughout his career with the second largest staffing firm in the world.     

Starting as a branch manager for Randstad in Rotterdam, Mr van den Broek was later appointed to the position of Regional Director for the Netherlands, and then Marketing Director of Europe. In 2001 he became CEO of newmonday.com, an online initiative Randstad had launched with media company VNU, however, by November that year the venture was discontinued due to “insufficient prospects”. The following year he was appointed Managing Director of Capac Inhouse Services.

Jacques van den Broek was appointed to the Executive Board of Randstad Holding in January 2004. Since that time he has been responsible for a significant boost to Randstad’s global accounts, which account for approximately a quarter of Randstad Group’s revenue.

In his current position, Mr van den Broek is responsible for the UK, Belgium & Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Middle East, Yacht, and Global Client Solutions.

On a personal level, the company revealed that comic book collecting Mr van den Broek is married with two sons.

He led the growth of our Global Client Solutions offering and managed various integrations, such as Vedior France.
