Poland – Number of temporary employees down 19% in Q3

The number of temporary employees in Poland during the third quarter of 2019 decreased by 19% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data from Polskie Forum HR, the Polish Human Resources Forum.

Figures from the Forum showed that its member companies employed over 84,000 temporary employees.

When compared to the previous quarter, the number of temporary employees decreased by 5%.

Polskie Forum HR estimates that in the period under review the total number of temporary employees in Poland amounted to approximately 280,000.

The number of hours worked by temporary employees in Polskie Forum HR agencies converted into full-time equivalents (FTE - full time equivalent) was 45,500. In this case, the year-on-year decline was 14%.

Meanwhile, over 87% of temporary employees in member companies were employed under an employment contract.

In the third quarter of 2019, member companies generated a total turnover of PLN 1.01 billion (€238.5 million), 2% less than in the same period of the previous year, but 5% more than in the second quarter of 2019.

Revenue in temporary work decreased by 5% compared to the previous year. Among Polskie Forum HR member companies it amounted to PLN 862 million (USD 202.3 million). Polskie Forum estimates that the value of this market in Poland in the analysed period amounted to approximately PLN 1.5 billion (€352.1 million).

The recruitment market for Polish employers also recorded a decline of 7%. Member companies achieved revenue of over PLN 31 million (€7.2 million). Additionally, in the field of recruitment for foreign employers, they achieved a turnover of over PLN 4.8 million (€1.1 million).
