Poland – Number of temp workers recruited by agencies sees slowdown in 2018

The number of temporary workers in Poland recruited by agencies in 2018 stood at 776,144, down 10.1% when compared to 2017, according to data from Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy and the Polish News Bulletin.

The Ministry stated that the slowdown number of temporary workers does not imply that the popularity of temporary employment agencies in declining.

In 2018, 44% of temporary workers were employed on the basis of fixed-term contracts, down from 47%.

Foreign citizens accounted for 35% of the total number of temporary workers (270,755) in 2018. Among them, Ukrainian citizens accounted for 91% of the total number of foreign temporary workers in Poland.

Casual unskilled roles made up 31% (243,339) of temporary employment positions. This was followed by warehousing and warehouse-related roles (217,322) and low-skilled industrial positions (161,141).

Polskie HR Forum recently published its temporary employment figures for the second quarter of 2019, showing a decrease of 12% compared to the same period of the previous year.
