The number of temporary employees in Poland during the second quarter of 2019 decreased by 12% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to Polskie Forum HR, the Polish Human Resources Forum.

When compared to the previous quarter, the decrease was smaller at 2%.

In the second quarter, Polskie Forum HR estimated the total number of temporary employees in Poland amounted to approximately 294,000.

The number of hours worked by temporary employees in Polskie Forum HR agencies in terms of full-time equivalents (FTE) was 44,600, down 15% lo compared to the previous year and 3% compared to the previous quarter. The Forum added that over 88% of temporary employees in member companies were employed on the basis of an employment contract.

In Q2 2019, Forum member companies generated a total turnover of PLN 965 million (€206.6 million) 3% less than in the same period of the previous year, but 2% more than in the first quarter of 2019. As much as 83% of this turnover is the sale of temporary work services, which amounted to approximately PLN 805 million (€172.3 million), 7% less than in the previous year and 1% less than in the previous quarter.

“We estimate that the value of this market in Poland in the analysed period amounted to approx. PLN 1.58 billion (€364.4 million),” the Forum stated.

Within recruitment services, Polish employers recorded a slight 2% decline compared to the previous year, but a 4% increase compared to Q1 2019. Member companies reported turnover of approximately PLN 34 million (€7.8 million). In the field of recruitment for foreign employers, turnover stood at approximately PLN 4 million (€0.9 million).
