Poland – Number of job vacancies up in Q1 as labour market tightens

The number of job vacancies in Poland reported an increase of 28.3% in the first quarter of 2018 when compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Central Statistics Office.

The total number of job vacancies stood at 152,400 in the first quarter, an increase of 33,600 from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the unemployment stood at 6.1% in May, which is the lowest in history for the month of May. Wages during the same period saw a rise of 6.2% when compared to the same period last year.

The data points to a tightening in Poland’s labour market which is expected to continue as unemployment falls and wages rise.
