Netherlands – ZZP Nederland takes over Victor Mundi’s self-employed initiatives

29 August 2019

ZZP Nederland, a Dutch independent organisation for the self-employed, announced that it has taken over ownership of the self-employed initiatives of Netherlands-based marketing firm Victor Mundi.

The self-employed initiatives include ‘Day of the Self-employed’, the ‘FOTY (freelancer of the year) awards’ and the ‘ZZP Barometer’. ZZP is the Dutch acronym for freelancer.

No further financial details of the takeover were disclosed.

ZZP Nederland said it wants to use this takeover to better serve and put the self-employed in the Netherlands “on the map”.

‘The Day of the Self-Employed’ is an annual event in which entrepreneurship is celebrated. Self-employed persons, freelancers, as well as interim professionals attend the event. It includes various lectures and workshops on entrepreneurship and includes the presentation of the FOTY awards. “With the acquisition of ZZP Barometer, ZZP Nederland has the possibility to retrieve information from a large group of freelancers who do not come from their own base,” the organisation stated.

The acquisition will not entail any substantive changes for ‘The Day of the Self-Employed’, the FOTY awards and the ZZP Barometer.

Frank Alfrink director of ZZP Nederland, commented, “As the largest organisation for freelancers in the Netherlands, we are delighted that we now also have the one-day freelancer event for self-employed. This is an excellent way for us to make ourselves known to an even larger audience. The ZZP Barometer and the FOTY awards complete the picture.”

Jeroen Sakkers, together with his brother Robbie, founder of Victor Mundi, issued a statement, “It always hurts to say goodbye to something you have enjoyed working on for more than ten years. But the pain is alleviated now that we know that ‘Day of the Self-Employed’, the ‘FOTY awards’ and the ZZP Barometer are in good, trusted hands.”
