Netherlands – Staffing growth steady, ABU reports

The total amount of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands remained stable in the eleventh period (weeks 41-44) of 2018, compared to the same period last year, according to the Dutch Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU).

ABU divides the year into four-week periods, with the eleventh period the most recently ended. The eleventh period counted as many workable days as in the same period last year, so no correction was applied.

Meanwhile, ABU reported that turnover increased by 4% in comparison to the same period last year.

Temporary workers in the administrative sector saw their hours decrease by 2% when compared to the same period last year however turnover increased by 3% in the same period.

Hours worked by temporary workers in the industrial sector saw an increase of 1% and turnover increased by 6% compared to last year.

The number of hours worked in the technical sector decreased by 3% while turnover grew by 1% compared to the same period last year.

Data from Eurostat for September found that the Netherlands unemployment rate stood at 3.7%.
