Netherlands – Flexible workers cite salary as most important employment condition

13 February 2023

Flexible work candidates in the Netherlands cite salary as the most employment condition according to a survey from NBBU (Dutch Association of Intermediary and Temporary Employment Agencies).

For the survey, 50 flexible work companies’ vacancies were studied using a turnover ranking top 100 report from Flexmarkt. Only companies that mediate in flex workers, including temporary employment agencies, secondment providers and brokers, were studied. A total of 250 vacancies were collected in the same period in November 2022.

The survey showed that salary is mentioned most often (in 73% of the vacancies). Contract duration has been specified in 41% of the vacancies. Training and development in 24%. Vacation & leave days and travel allowance both in 19% of the vacancies. Work atmosphere was mentioned in 32% of the vacancy texts examined.

It is to be expected that some conditions will not be mentioned often. Bonuses, for example, are often very function-dependent. This condition was therefore only reflected in 14% of the vacancies.

Anchrit Edelaar, communications advisor of the NBBU said the main conclusion of the study is that flexible work companies ‘can distinguish themselves much more’ in their vacancies. Edelarr added that vacancies could include more information.
