Food courier company Deliveroo will pay its delivery staff operating in the south region of the Netherlands as freelancers, reports RTLNieuws. This means that Deliveroo drivers will no longer be paid by the hour, but per delivery. As freelancers, they will also no longer be eligible for a holiday allowance, pension money or insurance pay. Deliveroo states that the change was made at the request of the drivers themselves who stated they want more flexibility. Deliveroo will be testing its new system in the south before expanding it to the rest of the country.
