Netherlands – ABU reports staffing growth

The total amount of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands grew by 10% in period 6 (weeks 21-24), compared to the same period last year, according to the Dutch Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU).

This period had two workable days less compared to the same period last year, so a significant correction was applied.

ABU divides the year into four-week periods reported, with the 6th period the most recently ended. This period had two workable days less compared to the same period last year, so a significant correction was applied.

Temporary workers in the administrative sector decreased 1% in hours worked in comparison to the same period last year and turnover remained the same. Hours worked by temporary workers in the industrial sector increased 17% and turnover increased 20% compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, the amount of worked hours in the technical sector increased 11% and turnover also grew 11%.

With the end of period 6, the figures of the first half year of 2017 are also now complete. On average the total amount of hours worked by temporary workers increased 6% and total turnover also showed an increase of 6%. The first half year of 2017 had an equal amount of workable days compared to the first half year of 2016, so no correction was applied.

Meanwhile, over the same half year period, hours in the administrative sector decreased 1% compared to the same period last year and turnover decreased 2%. The industrial sector grew 10% in hours and 12% in turnover in comparison with the same period last year. An increase of 7% in hours as well as in turnover was reached by the technical sector.
