Labour Power Company acquires Spain-based International Job Challenge

14 December 2023

Labour Power Company (LPC), a group of companies in the Netherlands specialising in the mediation of flex workers announced that it has acquired Spanish recruitment firm International Job Challenge.

The price of the transaction was not disclosed.

International Job Challenge is headquartered in the Valencia region of Spain. The group specialises in facilitating job placements for individuals in Spain and Portugal and has various branches across Southern Europe.

Labour Power Company said with this acquisition, it further realises its international ambitions. The deal also marks its eleventh acquisition since its inception in 2020.

General manager and founder of International Job Challenge, Rolf van der Meijden said “We work for multiple companies and staffing organisations in the Netherlands, successfully placing over 10,000 people in the past five years. In Southern Europe, we have built a strong reputation due to our local teams prioritising people and working from quality principles.”

“We also collaborate with several Labour Power Company companies, leading to discussions about this acquisition. For us, it’s a great opportunity to join an organisation that has grown so strongly in recent years and has gained a prominent position in international recruitment. With this step, International Job Challenge can expand and thrive, ensuring continuity,” van der Meijden added.

Linda van Alphen, COO of Labour Power Company said, “Recruitment is the lifeblood of our company. The labour market is under significant pressure due to structural factors such as aging and a declining workforce. Currently, the tight labour market is somewhat alleviated by economic conditions, but we anticipate it returning to the forefront when the economy picks up again. That’s why we are strengthening our recruitment apparatus in an anticyclical manner.”

“International Job Challenge has been working for some of our companies for many years,” van Alphen said. “To secure this inflow, we have taken this step. We are very satisfied with the quality of International Job Challenge’s services. We have noticed a shift in our recruitment focus from Eastern Europe to Southern Europe in recent years. While Labour Power Company already has its own offices in Spain and Portugal, this acquisition solidifies our position. International Job Challenge will, as customary from the Labour Power Company perspective, autonomously continue its services under the current local management.”
