Jobindex job ads down marginally in March due to early Easter

04 April 2024

Danish job board Jobindex reported 25,500 new job advertisements were posted online in March 2024, a decrease of 500 job ads compared to February 2024.

Jobindex stated that since the job figures for March were affected by an earlier Easter holiday this year compared to last, and since the drop from February to March is only 500 job advertisements, it is too early to talk about a new direction in the Danish labour market.

“Despite the fact that there has been a lot of talk about the prospect of declining employment, the labour market thus seems reasonably stable here in 2024,” Jobindex stated.

The job board added that companies have adapted to the more uncertain economic times, so the employee appetite has decreased compared to the hectic days after the pandemic but there is nothing that indicates a crisis.

“We have employment figures up to and including January - and they show continued rising employment. There is nothing in the figures from the Danish Job Index that indicates an imminent significant change in employment - neither upwards nor downwards,” Jobindex stated.

Looking at historical figures and longer-term trends, Jobindex also noted that the number of new job ads posted online peaked in the first quarter of 2022, when an average of 34,000 new job ads were posted online per month. Since then, the number of job adverts posted online fell, and in September last year it reached almost 24,000 new job adverts, seasonally adjusted. Since then, however, there has been some progress to track.
