Job ads on Danish job board Jobindex fall in September amid job markets crisis

09 October 2023

Danish job board Jobindex reported 23,700 new job advertisements were posted online in September. The job board noted that, not counting the Covid-19 affected months, it was the lowest level since 2019.

The 23,700 figure was a comedown from the 24,500 new job advertisements that were posted online in August 2023 on a seasonally adjusted basis.

“The labour market is thus certainly not in free fall, and there is currently no question of a crisis in the job market. But the companies adapt to more uncertain economic times,” Jobindex stated.

“We have employment figures up to and including July - and they show continued rising employment - however, the rate of increase has fallen considerably,” Jobindex stated. “There is nothing in the figures from the Danish Job Index that indicates an imminent significant change in employment, neither upwards nor downwards.”

According to Jobindex, when compared to the peak at the beginning of 2022, the number of new job advertisements has primarily fallen with regard to worker positions in the private sector. There is greater stability as far as the demand for civil servants and employees in the public sector is concerned.

In September, the group reported revenue for the second quarter of DKK 96.6 million (€12.9 million), a decrease of 17.8% compared with the same quarter in the previous year.
