Italy – Temporary agency worker numbers rise

The number of temporary agency workers in Italy during June 2016 was 385,556 reflecting an increase of 5.5% compared with June 2015, according to the latest figures from Ebitemp, the bilateral organisation for temporary employment representing employers’ associations and unions.

However, the number of hours worked was approximately 37.1 million during the month with a very slight decrease of 0.6% year-on-year.  The number of hours worked per worker also saw a reduction year on-year by 6.2%. 

The unemployment rate in Italy during June was 11.6% an increase of 0.1 points on May, however, there was a 0.3 point reduction in the unemployment rate for the younger generation (15-24) age group.
