Italy – Number of temporary agency workers on the rise

The number of temporary agency workers in Italy during January 2017 was up by 21.5% compared to the previous year according to the latest figures from Ebitemp, the bilateral organisation for temporary employment representing employers’ associations and unions.

The figures showed that the number of temp workers in January 2017 reached 383,343, compared with 315,628 in January of 2016.

Further data also shows that in January 2017 the total payroll of temporary workers increased by 28.8% over the same month last year. Of the nearly 384,000 temp workers in January, 11.5% of them worked for an “indefinite period”.

The number of hours worked was approximately 34.3 million in January 2017, an increase of 26.1% on an annual basis. The hours worked per worker increase by 3.8% compared to January 2016.
