Italy – Number of temporary agency workers increases by 13.6% in June

The number of temporary agency workers in Italy for June 2018 increased by 13.6% when compared to the same period last year, according to figures from Ebitemp, the bilateral organisation for temporary employment representing employers’ associations and unions.

Ebitemp figures also found that the total payroll of temporary workers in June recorded an increase of 13.1% compared to the same month last year.

Meanwhile, the number of hours worked in June increased by 11.2% on an annual basis. Broken down by hours worked per worker, the hours worked per worker show a decrease equal to -2.1 compared to June 2017.

In SIA’s analysis of the Most Attractive Staffing Market Globally, Italy ranked joint first alongside Sweden. Recently, Italy’s senate approved a decree that increases limits on temporary contracts which could have an impact of Italy’s staffing market.

The unemployment rate in Italy stood at 10.9% in June 2018, according to figures from Eurostat.
