Germany is working to recruit workers from California’s Silicon Valley who were caught up in the recent wave of layoffs by large tech companies there, The Economic Times reported. “They fire, we hire,” Rainer Zugehoer, chief people officer at Cariad, the software subsidiary of automaker Volkswagen, told The Economic Times. “We have several hundred open positions in the US, in Europe and in China.” The German government is also simplifying immigration rules to help attract workers, but some say the country’s bureaucratic red tape remains a concern.
