German staffing association vice president to resign

The Vice President of the General Association of Personnel Service Providers (GVP), Sebastian Lazay, announced in a letter last week that he is resigning from the positions of the GVP as Vice President and Chairman of the Collective Bargaining Commission (B-binding) as of 31 January 2024.

Last year, German-based employers’ associations the Federal Employers' Association of Personnel Service Providers (BAP), and the Interest Group of German Temporary Employment Agencies (iGZ) announced they will merge to form the General Association of Personnel Service Providers" (GVP).

The GVP is one of the largest employers' associations in Germany, which represents around 6,000 member companies.

Lazay has held numerous positions in his 25 years of voluntary work for GVP’s predecessor associations and for the GVP. He was a long-time member of the executive board of the Federal Association of Temporary Employment Personnel Services. V. (BZA) and the Federal Employers' Association of Personnel Service Providers. V. (BAP) and deputy collective bargaining leader for both associations for many years. In 2017, Sebastian Lazay took over as President of the BAP and in 2018 as Chairman of the Collective Bargaining Commission. When the GVP was founded, he was elected vice president in 2023.

The GVP said Lazay's commitment was extremely successful, particularly with regard to the merger of the associations BAP and iGZ (Interessenverband Deutscher Temporary Employment Companies) to form the GVP.

“With the registration of this merger on 1 December 2023 and the association's uniform platform created this year, an important milestone for the industry was reached,” the GVP stated. “With the launch of the GVP as the one voice of personnel service providers, which is the point of contact for everyone, small, medium and large companies, Sebastian Lazay has achieved his most important association policy goal.”

GVP President Christian Baumann said, “Sebastian Lazay has made a decisive contribution to unifying our industry. He has made outstanding contributions to our industry for many years through his extraordinary commitment and political impulses. I worked with him in a very trusting and constructive manner. I am pleased that he remains connected to our industry as an entrepreneur and member of the GVP and wish him personal success and all the best.”

Lazay was named to SIA’s 2023 Staffing 100 Europe and remains CEO of Extra Team, a Hamburg-based staffing firm.
