Freelance.com completes acquisition of OpenWork Group

01 September 2023

French talent platform Freelance.com announces the completion of the acquisition of 100% of the shares of OpenWork, a specialist in wage portage for the self-employed, mainly present in France and Belgium.

OpenWork has recorded strong growth since its creation in 2011 and was one of the top five wage portage companies in France in 2022, with turnover of €70 million and more than 1,200 freelancers.

OpenWork is positioned as an accelerator at the service of consultants to offer them the means to develop their activity. Its mission is to simplify the self-employed's daily life and protect them through the status of supported employee.

The acquisition allows Freelance.com to consolidate a fragmented wage portage market, become a leading player in management and services to freelancers, and manage a panel of brands that target different types of consultants, according to the firm.

Freelance.com added that OpenWork has a range of services complementary to Freelance.com, which provides excellent coverage of employees in France and internationally. Its Belgian subsidiary, which opened six years ago, will complement the international coverage of Freelance.com, particularly in Switzerland (Helvetic Payroll) and Morocco.

OpenWork will benefit from Freelance.com's range of services in sourcing, resource management, salary portage and freelance portage in business-to-business with a structured and experienced team.

The price of the transaction was not disclosed. The acquisition was financed entirely from equity.
