France – Temporary employment up in March

Temporary employment in France grew by 8.2% in March compared to last year, according to data from Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

The data also showed that all sectors showed improvement between 5% to 15%. The Transport sector was up 14.7% and construction was up 11.9%, compared to last year. The services sector showed growth of 7.7%, while industrial showed 6.7% and trade increased by 5%, compared to last year.

Temporary employment grew in middle management and professionals (11.8%) while skilled workers grew by 10.9%.

Among the regions, temporary workers increased the most in Rhône-Alpes (13.9%), Burgundy-Franche-Comté (+ 11.0%) and Brittany (+ 11.0%).

Prism’ Emploi data also showed that in the first quarter of 2017 temporary employment grew the strongest in the transport sector (12.7%). Furthermore, temporary employment grew in middle managers and intermediate occupations (11.9%) and skilled workers (11.2%) during the first quarter of 2017.
