France – Temporary employment up in February

Temporary employment in France grew by 8.7% in February compared to last year, according to data from Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

Since the beginning of 2017, temporary employment has increased by 8.4% compared to last year.

In February, all sectors showed growth in temporary employment. In the Transportation sector, temporary employment increased by 14.5% on a yearly basis. Meanwhile, the Construction sector grew by 10.1% compared to the previous year. Both sectors combined accounted for almost a quarter of the workforce. Temporary employment increased by 7.8% in the industrial sector, which was followed by Trade (7.4%) and the Services sector (7.1%).

Temporary employment grew in middle management and professionals (12.2%), skilled workers (11.4%), employees (7.4%) and unskilled workers (5.6%).

All the regions are oriented to the rise, the territories of the West and the Great South are those which record this month the most dynamic growth.

Temporary enrolment increased the most in the Occitanie region (12.9%), which was followed by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (11.5%).
