France – Temporary employment up and private sector job growth rises

The number of temporary jobs in France grew sharply in Q2 2017 by 17.6% compared to the same period last year according to Insee, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.

Meanwhile, in Q2 2017, private payroll employment increased by 1.5% year-on-year. Excluding temporary employment, it increased by 1.0% over the year (+185,900 jobs).

Private employment grew in agriculture and construction but dipped in the industrial sector.

Insee also reported that wage growth in the second quarter softened as wages grew 0.4% compared to 0.6% in the first quarter.
