Temporary employment in France grew by 8.4% in January when compared to last year, according to data from Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.
The growth in temporary employment was led by the transport and logistics sector which recorded an increase of 23.4%.
According to Prism’Emploi, all professional categories contributed to temporary employment growth in January. Skilled workers saw an increase of 6.6% while employees recorded an increase of 6.2%, year-on-year, in January. Unskilled workers saw an increase of 10.1% while interim managers saw a 4.0% increase.
Among the regions, Bourgogne Franche-Comté (+ 15.7%) led temporary employment growth, followed by Grand-Est (+ 15.2%) and Center-Val de Loire (+15 , 2%).
Eurostat figures showed France’s unemployment rate stood at 9.0% in January.
