France – Temporary employment falls 5.0% in April, according to Prism’Emploi

The number of temporary workers in France fell by 5.0% year-over-year in April 2019, according to the latest Barometer report by Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

The 5.0% decrease was also a marked fall compared to February and March 2019 (-2.6% average) but was above January 2019 figures (-6.6%).

Among the sectors, temporary employment rose in the construction industry (6.8%), services (6.0%) and trade (0.4%), but declined in industry (-9.6%) and transport (-14.4%).

Among occupational categories, the number of temporary workers increased slightly for managers and intermediate professionals (0.3%), but fell for skilled workers (-7.1%), employees (-5.3%) and unskilled workers (-5.1%).

Among the regions, only Brittany saw growth in temporary employment increase (1.7%) in April while the rest of the regions reported decreases.
