France – Temporary employment down 6.7%: Prism’Emploi

The number of temporary workers in France fell by 6.7% year-over-year in September 2019, according to the latest Barometer report by Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

The 6.7% fall followed a 4.3% year-over-year decrease in August 2019.

In September, temporary employment reported a decrease in services (-2.8%), construction (-3.1%), trade (-6.2%), transport (-7.8%), and industrial (-8.7%).

Among occupations, temporary employment increased among managers and intermediate professions (1.1%). However, it declined among unskilled workers (-6.3%), employees (-7.3%) and skilled workers (-9.8%).

During September 2019, the majority of regions reported decreases in temporary employment with the only exception being an increase in Brittany (2.3%).
