France – Temporary employment accelerates in July

After a 5.7% increase in June, temporary employment in France grew by 7.0% in July, compared to the same period last year, according to data from Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

Temporary employment rose in transport (13.7%), services (11.1%), construction (6.8%) and industry (5.9%) with only the trade sector declining (-0.3%)

The growth in temporary employment in July was driven by higher-skilled categories with skilled workers up 11.4% and middle managers and professionals up by 8.3%. Employees and unskilled workers increased by 6.7% and 3.7 % respectively.

On a regional basis, temporary workers increased in Île-de-France (18.3%) and Pays de la Loire (13.5%). However, they recoiled in Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrénées (-2.0%).
