France – Recruiters say IT labour market set to be positive in the fourth quarter

08 September 2017

Recruiters in France predict the labour market in the last quarter of 2017 will be favourable, according to first edition of the Fed IT Pulse barometer by French IT recruitment firm Fed IT.

The report showed that 91.3% of recruiters believe the market is extremely dynamic. Furthermore, most companies (87%) said they have a budget to hire in the fourth quarter with 61% of firms having a higher budget than in 2016. Meanwhile 26% have the same budget as last year.

In the report, Fed IT also interviewed recruiters about the challenges they face. IT firms also stated that their first concern is the attraction of talent in an overheated market where the supply of positions is important as candidates are scarce. Their second concern is sourcing talent which they say is a reflection in the difficulty in identifying and selecting IT talent. The third concern for IT firms is the adaptation to new sourcing techniques.

“Indeed, mobile and social recruitment requires new digital skills, HR professionals must adapt. Especially since in this sector, the recruitment processes are different. The evaluation of the candidate, which is based on technical skills, is carried out by the HR,” the report said.

"We are seeing new recruitment processes, such as the Hackathons, which bring together developers over several days,” Vincent Picard, partner at Fed IT, said.

Big Data, mobility and candidate experience are other challenges identified by HR decision-makers in this study.

Fed IT interviewed 40 companies to collect their perceptions of the job market for the end of 2017. This survey was conducted between June and August 2017, and constitutes the first edition of the "FED IT PULSE" barometer, the objective of which is to assess the state and trends of the IT employment market each year.

Fed IT was launched earlier this year in order to expand the Fed Group into the IT recruitment market.
