13 August 2018

Temporary employment in France rose by 7.2% year over year in the second quarter, adding 54,600 jobs, according to a report from the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.

When compared to the first quarter, temporary employment slowed to a 0.1% increase in Q2, after a 0.3% increase was seen in Q1. This led to a total quarter-on-quarter increase of 1,100 jobs in the second quarter.

Overall, private payroll employment increased by 1.3% (that is +241,100 jobs) in Q2 when compared to the same period last year. Excluding temporary employment, it increased by 1.0% over the year (+186,500 jobs) and by 0.2% over the quarter (that is +29,900 jobs).

A separate report from Prism’Empoi published last month showed that the number of temporary workers in France rose by 7.1% year over year in June.
