Europe – Employment up in euro area and EU28, GDP also rises

The number of employed persons increased by 1.1% in both the euro area and by 1.0% in the EU28 in the second quarter of 2019, compared with Q2 2018, according to data from Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

The number of employed persons increased by 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU28 in the second quarter of 2019, compared with the previous quarter, on a seasonally adjusted basis.

At the same time, the seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1.1% in the euro area and by 1.3% in the EU28 in the second quarter of 2019, when compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 0.2% in both the euro area and in the EU28 during the second quarter of 2019, compared with the previous quarter.

The biggest year-on-year GDP increase among member states was seen in Hungary (5.5%).
