Europe – Alma Media to shut down recruitment services in Poland and Hungary

28 August 2018

Finland-based media company Alma Media, which operates a number of recruitment services sites, announced that its subsidiary Alma Career Oy, a joint venture of Alma Media and Monster Worldwide Inc., is closing down and discontinuing the operations of recruitment services Monsterpolska.pl in Poland and Monster.hu in Hungary.

The operations will be phased out by the end of 2018. In 2017, the companies total combined revenue amounted to approximately € 1.1 million.

“We will continue to be present in these markets,” Marja Pylkkänen, Managing Director of Alma Career, said. “Our focus will be on the development and sales growth of the mobile application Praca za Rogiem, which was launched in Poland in spring 2018, and the online service Workania.hu in Hungary. The websites Monster.fi in Finland and Monster.cz in the Czech Republic will continue as before.”

Marc Irmisch-Petit, Managing Director of Monster Europe, commented, “We look forward to continuing our work with the Alma Media team in the Czech Republic and Finland, while focusing on the roll-out of HR innovations to best serve our customers and candidates. Both markets are hot-spots for young talent, as well as many international companies, which make them ideal areas of focus for our efforts.”

Alma Career Oy is a joint venture of Alma Media and Monster Worldwide Inc., with Alma Media owning 83.3% of the company. Alma Career has recruitment operations in nine European countries and is the market leader in seven markets.

Alma Media’s business units are Alma Markets, Alma Talent and Alma Consumer. Its Alma Markets unit operates recruitment services and includes companies such as Monster.fi, Jobs.cz, Prace.cz, CV Online, Profesia.sk, MojPosao.net, and Monster.cz, as well as Monsterpolska.pl and Monster.hu.
