Europe – Agriculture staffing firm Abeos acquires Werktijd

12 July 2022

Dutch food and agriculture staffing firm Abeos announced that it acquired Werktijd, a temporary employment agency also based in the Netherlands.

The acquisition was finalised on June 30. The price of the transaction was not disclosed.

Werktijd is headquartered in Heerenveen in the province of Frieslan and was founded in 2001. The company specialises in recruitment for the industrial and healthcare sector. The company also provides payroll services.

With the addition of Werktijd, Abeos will expand its operations to the northern provinces of the Netherlands.

The acquisition is part of Abeos' growth strategy.

The permanent employees of Werktijd will be included in the Abeos Group and will continue to work from their own locations, according to Agri Holland.

Abeos is active in the agriculture & food, industrial, logistics, construction, asbestos removal, landscaping, civil engineering, civil engineering and veterinary sectors. Abeos was founded in 1963 as a cooperative association for agricultural business care.

“It’s not about storming the markets in the different provinces, but about doing so with policy and in collaboration with parties that are at home in the region,” Abeos director Martin Engbers told Leeuwarder Courant.

Werktijdbv’s owners Geke Schuring and Wiep Hoekstra said in a statement, “Our own identity will be preserved and the service will continue as we are used to. This applies to customers and staff, who can continue to work from their own locations.”
