Dutch temporary workers’ hours down 13% in latest ABU report

The total amount of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands fell 13% year over year in the ninth period of 2023 (14 August through 10 September, weeks 33 to 36), according to the Dutch Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU). Revenue decreased by 1% when compared to the same period a year ago.

ABU noted this period had no changes in the number of working days compared to the prior-year period.

Within the administrative sector, the number of hours fell by 20% and turnover fell by 5% compared to the same period last year.

In the industrial sector, the number of hours decreased by 10% and turnover increased by 1% compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, in the technical sector, the number of hours decreased by 8% and turnover increased by 3% compared to the same period last year.
