Dutch temporary staffing hours down 8% while turnover steady

The temporary employment sector in the Netherlands saw a decline in hours while turnover remained the same during the first period of 2024 (week 1 – 4, starting 1 January), according to the Dutch Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU).

In period 1, the number of hours decreased by 8% and turnover remained the same compared to the same period last year. Because this period had one workable day less than the same period last year, a correction has been applied.

Within the administrative sector, the number of hours fell by 18% and turnover fell by 8% compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, in the industrial sector, the number of hours decreased by 4% and turnover increased by 5% compared to the same period last year.

In the technical sector, the number of hours decreased by 8% and turnover remained the same at 0% compared to the same period last year.
