Belgium – Considerable increase in temporary agency work activity in July

In July 2016 the number of hours worked by temporary agency workers (‘TAW’) increased +6.55% in comparison to the same month in the prior year according to data released by Federgon, the Belgian federation of staffing agencies. July saw a rise in both the number of blue collar hours worked (+4.95%) and also white collar (+8.51%).

The Federgon index reached 260.5 points in July 2016 an increase from 255.3 points in June, this index reflects the level of activity in the month studied compared to January 1995 on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Federgon commented, “We observed a growth in both the regular as well as the student segment of the TAW market, indicating that the business cycle remains positive.

The region that has seen the largest increase on a year-on-year comparison was Wallonia with an increase of +8.30%, split by white collar (10.85%) and blue collar (6.56%). To view the entire market update plus regional figures please click here
