New SIA Report Extends Insights into DE&I Staffing Trends

Mountain View, California — April 26, 2021 — Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions, has released a new detailed report into global DE&I Trends in Staffing, examining diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) developments, efforts, practices, and resources, and providing data and insights for how staffing organizations can and are responding to the need for more equitable workplaces.

Citing current studies and data-driven assessments of equality and fairness around race, gender, age, disability and sexual orientation, the report incorporates multiple perspectives from across the workforce solutions ecosystem, including those of temporary workers, staffing executives and business leaders. This high-level look at the impact DE&I is having on the staffing industry right now enables staffing executives and stakeholders to better understand the broad trends likely to affect their businesses and organizations in 2021, and to take related action to promote and protect equity and equal rights.

The report underscores the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable groups, calling out racial justice, human rights, unemployment, and wage gaps as areas where the disruption of the past year has had disproportional and often severe impact. As the staffing industry navigates how to take DE&I forward in strategic planning, organizational vision and delivery of services, the report covers individual initiatives such as training, an overview of the business case for DE&I, and the first of its kind industry directory focused on suppliers that are offering technology services relating to DE&I, categorized by Analytics & Benchmarking, Candidate Discovery (Online Job Advertising), Candidate Discovery (Sourcing Automation), Candidate Assessment, Candidate Engagement and Candidate Verification.

John Nurthen, Executive Director of Global Research for SIA said, “Despite many years of equality legislation in developed economies, the experiences of 2020 have highlighted that more needs to be done to help all parts of society achieve their full potential. Accordingly, this topic has moved up the corporate agenda which provides the staffing industry with an excellent opportunity to support employers in achieving their DE&I objectives.”

The full 34-page DE&I Trends in Staffing report is available for SIA Corporate and CWS Council Members.

SIA’s annual Diversity-Owned Staffing Firms list is forthcoming in May 2021, as is SIA’s inaugural DE&I Influencers list.
