Wanted estimates loss of 565,000 jobs

May 26, 2009

Wanted Technologies Corp. estimates the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics will announce a loss of 565,000 jobs in May in its employment situation report scheduled for June 5.

Among the losses, Wanted estimates a decline of 33,100 jobs in transportation and warehousing and a loss of 32,000 jobs in finance and insurance. It estimates a gain of 26,200 jobs in healthcare.

This is the third consecutive month that Wanted's forecast is less severe than the previous month, according to the company. Wanted's forecast is based, in part, on a weekly measure of online job ads.
