US gains 212,000 jobs in February, growth pace slows

March 04, 2015

US private sector employment rose by approximately 212,000 jobs in February when compared to January, according to the ADP national employment report produced by Automatic Data Processing Inc. (NASD: ADP) in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics.

Small businesses added 94,000 jobs in February, according to the report. Medium-sized businesses added 63,000 jobs, and large businesses added 56,000 jobs.

By sector, the service-providing sector added approximately 181,000 jobs, and the goods-providing sector added approximately 31,000 jobs.

“Job growth is strong, but slowing from the torrid pace of recent months,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics. “Job gains remain broad-based, although the collapse in oil prices has begun to weigh on energy-related employment. At the current pace of growth, the economy will return to full employment by mid-2016.”
