US - Resources Connection says Q2 weekly revenue trends up

Resources Connection Inc. (NASD: RECN) reported weekly revenue trends improved in its fiscal second quarter ended Nov. 23; rising from $11.2 million to $11.7 million by quarter end, said President and CEO Tony Cherbak.

Overall, second-quarter revenue rose 3.4 percent year over year to $145.9 million at the Irvine, Calif.-based professional staffing and services provider.

U.S. revenue rose 6.6 percent year over year to $112.8 million with a $3.3 million boost because the Thanksgiving holiday did not fall in this year’s fiscal second quarter as it did in the previous fiscal year. International revenue fell 6.2 percent year over year.

Second-quarter gross margin improved to 39.2 percent from 39.1 percent in the year-ago quarter. Operating income rose 15.0 percent.

Net income rose 21.0 percent to almost $7.1 million.

Resources Connection’s operating subsidiary is Resources Global professionals. It provides professionals specializing in accounting, finance, risk management, internal audit, information management, legal and other areas.
