Accounting Principals reported that Houston ranks as the top city to find a job in finance. It was followed by Richmond, Va., and New York. Accounting Principals used internal data from its branches around the country to determine the top finance job markets. It weighed volume of job openings in the last six months as well as a general assessment of the overall economic environment in each market.

Based in Jacksonville, Fla., Accounting Principals is a finance/accounting staffing division of Adecco Group North America.

Houston’s top ranking was helped because of the large concentration of Fortune 500 companies. It is also home to many energy and technology firms.
