TriNet Group Inc., a San Leandro CA-based professional employer organization, announced Martin Babinec stepped down as board chairman effective Jan. 1. Babinec founded TriNet in 1988 and served as its CEO through May 2008. He will continue to serve on the privately held firm's board.

Taking over as chairman will be Ray Bingham, who has served on TriNet's board since July 2008. Bingham is a managing director at private equity firm General Atlantic, TriNet's largest shareholder.

Bingham formerly served as chairman and CEO at Cadence Design Systems. In addition to TriNet, Bingham also serves as director at three publicly held firms: Oracle Corp., Flextronics International and ST Microelectronics.
