The Arevo Group Inc., an affiliate company of WorkForce Unlimited LLC, acquired Roanoke, Va.-based The Renick Group Inc. Both firms provide executive search and professional contract services.

The transaction closed Sept. 21; Terms were not disclosed.

The Renick Group will transition into the Arevo brand by end of month. Coy Renick, founder and president of The Renick Group, will lead the sales and marketing efforts for Arevo in Virginia. Donna Tatum, executive recruiter at The Renick Group, will also join Arevo.

Renick and Tim Prillaman, VP of professional services for Arevo, are longtime friends, according to Arevo founding member and CEO Michael Brannock Jr.

“Once Tim joined our team back in 2014, he and Coy chatted about the benefits of them working together on the same team,” Brannock said. “When we found out that we had some interest in a partnership moving forward it, it complemented us very nicely strategically and geographically in terms of what we are trying to accomplish.”

Arevo’s three brick-and-mortar branches are located just outside Roanoke, Va., and in Greensboro and Charlotte, NC. The acquisition brings an office presence in Roanoke.

“Roanoke is an attractive market to us both for the workforce brand and the Arevo brand, so we see this as just a step in the right direction in terms of solidifying or really penetrating that market,” Brannock said.

Arevo primarily targets the finance, engineering and IT sectors, while The Renick Group offerings include IT and a little bit of human resources.

“It marries up nicely for us strategically from a business mix as well as geography,” Brannock said. “Coy and Donna are both very well-known and respected all throughout the Roanoke Valley.”
