Technisource IT confidence index up 6.6 points

July 20, 2010

The information technology employee confidence index released by IT staffing provider Technisource rose 6.6 points in the second quarter to a reading of 58.2.

In the second quarter, 38% of technology workers said they believe the economy is getting strong, up from 32% in the first-quarter survey, according to the index's survey.

Also among the findings, the 37% of tech workers said they are likely to search for job opportunities in the next 12 months, up five percentage points from the first quarter.

"The marked increase in confidence this quarter tells us that technology workers may be in a more solid position for the economic recovery compared to other industries," said Michael Winwood, president of Technisource. "During the recession many companies had to initiate hiring freezes, postpone new technology implementations and simply 'do more with less.' As the recovery lumbers forward slowly, we are seeing technology deployments in new areas that provide increased performance, such as VoIP and Windows 7."

The survey included responses from 241 tech workers.
