Survey says physicians’ opinion of ACA changes for worse

November 22, 2013

Physicians’ opinion of the Affordable Care Act has changed for the worse, according to a survey conducted last week by Jackson & Coker, a locum tenens and physician permanent placement subsidiary of Jackson Healthcare, the third largest healthcare staffing company in the U.S.

“The more knowledgeable physicians report being about the ACA, the more pessimistic and concerned they are,” said Sandra Garrett, president of Jackson & Coker.

The areas physicians said would be negatively impacted include:

  • Compensation: 71 percent
  • Workload: 61 percent
  • Quality of patient care: 60 percent
  • Decision-making ability: 57 percent
  • Patient access to healthcare: 51 percent

The survey included 3,072 practicing physicians and was conducted between Nov. 8 and Nov. 12, 2013.
