The American Staffing Association's index measuring temporary employment was at 109 in December, unchanged from the previous two months. The index dropped before Thanksgiving, then rebounded before slipping back to 109.

The index measures changes in the number of temporary and contract employees both weekly and monthly. The monthly change is calculated using data from the week that includes the 12^th day of the month.
