South Dakota, Wyoming post lowest jobless

South Dakota and Wyoming posted the lowest jobless rates among all states in May at 2.9% each, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. The two states posted the lowest jobless rate among states in April as well at 2.6% each.

Michigan again registered the highest unemployment rate among states at 8.5% in May. It was followed by Rhode Island at 7.2% and Alaska at 7.0%.

Year-over-year, 44 states and the District of Columbia reported higher jobless rates in May. Only six states registered lower rates.
