Silicon Valley county posts highest Q4 wage, Arkansas county posts highest increase

San Mateo, Calif., posted the highest average weekly wage among all large US county areas in the fourth quarter of 2014, while Benton County in Arkansas posted the largest year-over-year percentage increase in average weekly wage, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

San Mateo County, a part of Silicon Valley, posted an average weekly wage of $2,166. Benton County in Arkansas had the largest percentage year-over-year wage increase at 9.9%.

The 10 large US counties with the highest average weekly wages in the fourth quarter:

  1. San Mateo, Calif.: $2,166
  2. New York, N.Y.: $2,138
  3. Santa Clara, Calif.: $2,114
  4. Suffolk, Mass.: $1,856
  5. San Francisco, Calif.: $1,850
  6. Washington, DC: $1,696
  7. Fairfield, Conn: $1,674
  8. Arlington, Va.: $1,613
  9. Fairfax, Va.: $1,584
  10. Somerset, N.J.: $1,543

The large US counties with the highest year-over-year increases in average weekly wage in the fourth quarter:

  1. Benton, Ark.: 9.9%
  2. Washington, Penn.: 9.2%
  3. Midland, Texas: 9.0%
  4. Brazoria, Texas: 8.9%
  5. Douglas, Colo.: 8.8%
  6. Clayton, Ga.: 7.6%
  7. Jefferson, Texas: 7.6%
  8. Rockingham, N.H.: 7.4%
  9. Yolo, Calif.: 7.1%
  10. Vanderburgh, Ind.; Atlantic, N.J.; Hamilton, Tenn.; Nueces, Texas: 7.0%
