SFN employee confidence index edges up

The SFN Group Inc.'s (NYSE: SFN) employee confidence index rose 0.3 points in March to a reading of 49.2 as workers became more confident in the strength of the economy and job availability.

The index's survey found that 24% of workers believe the economy is getting stronger, up one percentage point from February. In addition, the number of workers saying there were fewer jobs available fell to 63% in March from 67% in February.

"Our employee confidence index has remained pretty stable over the last few months," SFN Group President and CEO Roy Krause said in a press release. "Workers continue to be more personally confident, especially when it comes to considering a job change in the next year."

The index's survey questioned 1,480 employed adults in the U.S.
